5. Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum

By far Glasgow's most popular attraction, in fact one of the top 3 in Scotland, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is a striking building constructed of distinctive red sandstone.

There is some truly amazing art and exhibitions here; with 22 themed galleries and over 8000 objects.

The most famous painting on display is the ‘Christ of St John of the Cross’, painted by Salvador Dali, Sir Roger the stuffed Asian elephant is another big attraction and there is even a Spitfire hanging from the ceiling in the west court.

6. Art in the Park

Art in the Park

To the south of Glasgow lies Pollok Park; covering 146 hectares and easily accessible from the city centre, just jump on the train to Pollokshaws West from Central Station and you’ll be there in under 10 minutes.

This beautiful green oasis is home to an attractive walled garden, Clydesdale horses, a woodland garden, highland cattle, a play park for kids and some lovely picnic areas, along with 2 of the city’s major attractions: Pollok House and the Burrell Collection.

Less pretentious than the capital, Glasgow has a real urban chic, and rich cultural history with tons of places to visit; many of them free, visitors will be spoiled for choice.
